ISLE OF WIGHT v BRUMMIES, PREVIEW

Wednesday June 27, 2018
BIRMINGHAM head to the Isle of Wight on Thursday (7pm) for their first of three away fixtures in the space of five days.

It's the beginning of an important spell for the Edwards Plumbing Brummies who also head to Eastbourne on Saturday (June 30) before returning to the Midlands on Monday (July 2) for their important National Trophy derby clash with Cradley.

But first up it's the Warriors who have won just one of their last nine fixtures.

And with the Brummies still unbeaten in the Travel Plus National League, team boss Laurence Rogers is targeting another impressive away performance.

"The boys are in good spirits on the whole after our impressive win at Belle Vue last week," said Rogers.

"It was a big win for us and we want to add another to our tally and close in on the leaders.

"This will be Leon Flint's final meeting at reserve for us and he's been a real trump card for us at No.7 as we always knew he would be.

"But while not complacent, I'm confident of a solid team showing on Thursday.

"Layne (Cupitt) used to ride for the Isle of Wight and it’s a track which Callum (Walker) has performed really well on in the past as well.

“So hopefully they can chip in with some points and give themselves a big boost."

With James Shanes riding for Sheffield in their Knockout Cup tie with Scunthorpe, Mildenhall's Danny Ayres comes in as a guest.

ISLE OF WIGHT: Ben Morley, Danno Verge, Scott Campos, Chris Widman, Alfie Bowtell, Jamie Bursill, Shaun Tedham.

BIRMINGHAM: Tom Bacon, Layne Cupitt, Danny Ayres, Callum Walker, Danyon Hume, Arran Butcher, Leon Flint.
