BRUMMIES v KENT, PREVIEW

Tuesday April 24, 2018
BIRMINGHAM team boss Laurence Rogers is anticipating his side’s toughest test yet when Kent visit Perry Barr on Wednesday (7.30).

The Edwards Plumbing Brummies are aiming to maintain their unbeaten start to the year though and build on Saturday’s impressive 57-33 National Trophy win at Stoke.

Rogers is keen to see his side gain a healthy advantage in the first leg of the belated Easter Cup Challenge and is predicting a high quality contest.

“Kent have got a strong looking team this year and some of their riders have already had a glimpse into what the track will be like,” Rogers said.

“Four of the Kings’ line-up also rode in last week’s British Under-21 Semi-Final so that does give them a slight advantage compared to the other away teams who’ll come to Perry Barr this year.

“But if we ride how we have done in our first two meetings, then there’s no reason why we can’t take a lead down to Kent on April 30.

“The boys were brilliant from 1-7 at Stoke on Saturday and their confidence was impressive.

“They’re all gelling really, really well and they want to add another win to the list.

“It should be an entertaining fixture between two quality line-ups and it’s going to be another good test for our boys on their home track.”

Kent include experienced campaigner Luke Bowen, former Birmingham youngster Taylor Hampshire as well as Jack Thomas who dropped just one point as he claimed victory in last week’s British Under-21 Semi-Final.

Admission is £13 adults, £12 concessions and students, £3 juniors (12-16) while children 11 & under are admitted free of charge.

A reminder also that Birmingham Speedway season tickets ARE valid for this fixture.

BIRMINGHAM: Tom Bacon, Layne Cupitt, Mitchell Davey, Callum Walker, Danyon Hume, Arran Butcher, Leon Flint.

KENT: Luke Bowen, Anders Rowe, Nathan Stoneman, Taylor Hampshire, Jack Thomas, Alex Spooner, Jacob Clouting.
