BIRMINGHAM will compete in team racesuits in 2018 for the first time since joining the National League.

The decision has been made by new co-promoters David and Peter Mason with input from Commercial Manager Lee Kilby too.

The Edwards Plumbing Brummies’ new-look racesuits are predominantly yellow with red and black also featuring throughout.

Said David Mason: "We had a look at four or five different designs but in the end we all voted for the one with yellow being the most prominent colour.

"At the end of the day, that's the traditional colour that's associated with Birmingham Speedway and we know it will prove the most popular with our supporters.

"For me, having all of your riders in matching racesuits not only looks smart and professional, but it makes you appear together and as one.

"It identifies you as a part of the club and shows that you are one of us.

"Team and group spirit is something that has always been emphasised at Birmingham and hopefully this is just another small touch that will add to that."

And there's an opportunity for supporters to bag one of the racesuits at the end of the season by taking out one of the club's Rider Sponsorship packages.

For costs starting from £650, you will provide the tyres, oil and methanol for your chosen rider for all Birmingham meetings at Perry Barr.

Commercial Manager Lee Kilby said: "Our racesuit and rider sponsorship is yet another new initiative we have introduced for 2018.

"What we want is for our supporters and local businesses to be able to get involved as much as possible.

"By sponsoring a rider, they will be directly helping the club, as well as showing support and backing to their chosen rider.

"The delightful conclusion to the sponsorship involvement is receiving the racesuit at the end of the season.

"All rider / racesuit sponsors will get an invite to Press and Practice day where they will have their photo taken with their chosen rider. This picture will then be signed, framed and presented during one of our first home meetings.

"The suit itself will then be presented to the sponsor at the End of Season Awards Night for which they’ll receive a ticket and and invite.

"I expect there to be a lot of interest and if anyone would like to speak about payment methods, then please do not hesitate to get in touch."
