MILDENHALL v BRUMMIES, PREVIEW

Saturday July 15, 2017
BIRMINGHAM have received mixed team news ahead of Sunday's trip to Mildenhall (3pm).

Experienced campaigner David Mason has been ruled out of the clash as he is still struggling with a neck problem sustained during the big home win over local rivals Cradley last week.

Kyle Roberts will also miss the trip to Suffolk and is facing an extended spell on the sidelines. The 18-year-old aggravated a shoulder injury, also in the victory against the Heathens, and could be out for up to six weeks.

Meanwhile Tom Bacon, who started his career at West Row, is also absent due to SGB Championship commitments with Peterborough.

But on a more positive note, in-form star Liam Carr's stint with the Panthers is over and he is eligible to take his place in the Surestop Brummies line-up.

And while rider replacement will operate for Mason, boss Graham Drury has picked his other guests wisely.

Connor Coles, who fast became a fans' favourite during his three seasons at West Row, stands in for Bacon while Lewis Whitmore, who has gained plenty of track experience and knowledge whilst guesting for the Fen Tigers in recent weeks, will line-up alongside former King's Lynn Young Stars team-mate Taylor Hampshire at reserve.

Said Drury: "The few riders we've got missing obviously isn't ideal but we're still confident we can go there and come away with a positive result.

"The lads are still buzzing from their terrific win against Cradley and they know we've got an important spell coming up.

"Mildenhall is a place the people of Birmingham enjoy going back to after winning the National League there in 2015 and I think it should be a very interesting contest."

MILDENHALL: Connor Mountain, Jordan Jenkins, Jon Armstrong, Danno Verge, Dan Halsey, Matt Marson, TBC.

BIRMINGHAM: Jack Parkinson-Blackburn, Layne Cupitt, David Mason R/R, Connor Coles, Liam Carr, Lewis Whitmore, Taylor Hampshire.
