BIRMINGHAM captain Jack Parkinson-Blackburn insists his side are fired up ahead of Wednesday's Midlands showdown with Cradley at Perry Barr (7.30).

The Surestop Brummies suffered defeats in both of their Knockout Cup ties against Plymouth last week and are keen to return to winning ways against their local rivals.

And Parkinson-Blackburn is determined to help claim bragging rights for the home supporters and feels that current team spirit could have a big say in the outcome.

"We had an amazing team spirit last season when we won the league - but this year it's just as good to be honest," Parkinson-Blackburn said.

"Even last week when we lost to Plymouth, although we were all disappointed, our heads didn't drop and we looked on the positive things to take forward with us.

"I've rode a few times against Cradley since the back end of 2015 and this one means so much to our fans.

"They beat us in the challenge meeting at the start of the season - but we're a different side now and they won't have it all their own way.

"We really want the three league points and we're going to give it everything that we've got.

"I had a good one at Plymouth last Thursday so hopefully I can now get back into double figures at Perry Barr."

The Brummies welcome back Kyle Roberts at reserve who has recovered from shoulder and collarbone injuries.

The Heathens include two-time Birmingham title winner Tom Perry and hope reserve Conor Dwyer will be fit for the clash after knocking his wrist in a crash on Monday.
