BIRMINGHAM are delighted to confirm that Tom Bacon and Danyon Hume will be back to defend the National League title in 2017.
The duo played significant roles in the Surestop Brummies' third tier success this year and have both agreed a return to Perry Barr for next season.
Said Bacon: "It's great to be back with Birmingham for another year and I'm really relishing what will be a fresh challenge.
"There's new responsibilities on our shoulders as heat-leaders from the start next season but that certainly won't phase us.
"We've shown we can compete with the top averaged riders in the league and I'm really looking forward to another big year.
"We know it's not going to be easy, but we're going to give it everything we've got to make sure we are in those play-offs come September / October and then it's all about who is best over a few meetings."
Team-mate Hume said: "After the way they helped me kick-start my career last season, there was only ever one club I wanted to be with again in the National League.
"I'm so happy Birmingham wanted me back and I hope I can progress at the same rate once again.
"Being back with the same two clubs (plus Ipswich in the SGB Championship) and having the same pit team behind me mechanically should be good for me.
"It means I'm already used to everything, there's nothing new to get used to and I hope that gives me an advantage right from the start."
Meanwhile, team boss Graham Drury said: "Both Tom and Danyon were very popular with the supporters last season and we simply had to get them back on board.
"They were really impressive to say it was only their second season in the sport and I'm sure they'll continue to grow with us in 2017.
"Tom will start the season at No.1 - but I'm sure both Danyon and Jack Parkinson-Blackburn will be desperate to snatch that race jacket off him as soon as they can.
"That's three of last year's title winning side back and we should be able to announce a couple more riders later in the week."
